Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 27, 2026 · Effective: April 27, 2026
The Amarnath Foundation ("we," "us," or "the Foundation") is a Delaware nonprofit corporation classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) Private Operating Foundation (EIN 99-3628811). This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect from visitors to amarnathfoundation.org, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Donations: Donations are processed through PayPal. We receive your name, email address, and donation amount from PayPal — but we do not collect or store your credit card or bank-account information ourselves.
- Newsletter signup: If you submit your email through our newsletter form, your email address is sent to info@amarnathfoundation.org. We use it only to send quarterly updates from the Foundation.
- Direct correspondence: If you contact us by email, we receive whatever information you choose to share.
Information collected automatically
- Hosting logs: Our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) maintains standard server logs that may include IP addresses, browser type, referring URLs, and pages visited. These logs are used for security and operational purposes.
- Cookies: The Foundation's site does not set tracking or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect against abuse.
2. How we use information
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Process donations and issue tax-deduction acknowledgments (required by IRS rules for donations $250 or greater)
- Send the quarterly Foundation newsletter to subscribers
- Respond to inquiries and correspondence
- Maintain operational security and prevent abuse
- Comply with applicable legal obligations (including IRS Form 990-PF reporting)
3. Sharing of information
We do not sell, rent, or trade donor or visitor information. We share information only when:
- Required by law (subpoena, court order, or applicable IRS / state regulatory reporting)
- Necessary to process donations through PayPal (limited to what PayPal already sees)
- You have explicitly given us permission (e.g., your name in a public donor recognition list)
4. Donor anonymity
You may request that your gift be anonymous. We honor anonymity requests for all public donor recognition. The IRS still requires us to maintain donor records internally for Form 990-PF reporting, but those records are not made public.
5. Your choices and rights
- Access: You may request a copy of any personal information we hold about you by emailing info@amarnathfoundation.org.
- Correction: You may request that we correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion: You may request that we delete your information, subject to legal retention requirements (the IRS requires nonprofits to retain donor records for at least 7 years).
- Newsletter opt-out: Reply "unsubscribe" to any newsletter email and we will remove you immediately.
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA / CPRA. Contact us at info@amarnathfoundation.org to exercise those rights.
6. Children
The Foundation's website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
7. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect the information we hold, but no method of internet transmission or storage is 100% secure. Donations are processed through PayPal, which maintains its own security infrastructure.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the Foundation's website.
